A Birmingham developer is looking to make parking more readily available in a popular restaurant and brewery destination in Avondale.

Orchestra Partners changed the parking lot next to Avondale Common House, near the corner of 41st Street and Third Avenue South, into a paid parking lot, reports AL.com.

The new lot charges $1.50 an hour on nights and weekends and $1 an hour on weekdays. The fee can be paid using an app or the kiosk in the lot.

Security cameras are being installed. The parking system reads the license plates of cars coming in and out of the lot. An “Avondale Business Map” also will be installed at the site.

As we reported, one of the popular businesses in the area, Wasabi Juan’s, is moving to downtown Birmingham.
